Who gets Type 2 Diabetes and Why
Usually adults over after age 45 who are over weight and/or genetically pre-disposed get type 2 diabetes. However the disease has afflicted younger adults more often in recent years because of the growing trend toward obesity, which is one of the biggest risk factors for diabetes.
There are some people that no matter what they will not get diabetes, it is just not in there genes. There are people that no-matter what will get diabetes, it runs in families and these people are genetically pre-disposed to it. For most people however, while diabetes is a real possibility it is largely an avoidable condition.
Stay in shape, keep your weight down, eat a healthy diet, don’t abuse alcohol and you have a good chance of avoiding type 2 diabetes. Even people genetically pre-disposed to it can delay it’s onset for a long time by following this advise. It really is an avoidable condition for most of us and it all boils down to healthy living.
